Steve Maddock Bio
Over the past two decades, Steve Maddock has established himself as one of Western Canada’s most versatile singing and acting talents. As well as performing with
various jazz/pop ensembles, he’s been a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Chamber Choir, Pacific Baroque Orchestra, Chor Leoni Men’s Choir and The Dal Richards Jazz Orchestra and has been a featured vocalist on many CBC and CTV Radio and television shows. He has also performed as lead in numerous professional musical theatre productions and has enjoyed a string of television and film acting roles throughout his career.
Steve’s first love, though, is jazz, a passion that began in earnest while playing trumpet in his high school big band. Since that time, he has immersed himself in the study of the jazz language, singing with some of Western Canada’s most accomplished musicians and releasing two CDs.
Steve has been an instructor in the Jazz Faculty at Capilano University in North Vancouver since 1996 and has also taught privately, including vocal jazz master classes, studio performance, vocal improvisation and ear training. He has also acted as an adjudicator and clinician at many prestigious music festivals and workshops throughout the province.
"Maddock's voice is suede-smooth and toffee-sweet...."
Colin Thomas - The Georgia Straight“NICE JOB!!!! I loved your version of Autumn Leaves.... How do you do that?”
Rick Cluff, ‘The Early Edition' host - CBC Radio“Maddock has a strong set of lungs but tempers things with subtlety, especially when he hits the high notes….”
